Aaron Rodgers injury could eliminate the Packers from contention
A nasty Aaron Rodgers injury in the 1st quarter could end the Packers season
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers injury forced him to leave Sunday’s game in Minnesota early. The late tackle made by Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr forced Rodgers to land and roll over his throwing shoulder, immediately sending him into a state of pain.
The MVP candidate walked off the field and left the sideline on a cart, officially ruled as questionable to return.
It’s unlikely Rodgers returns against Minnesota, meaning Brett Hundley will take the reins for Green Bay.
Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone late in the 2013 season, resulting in seven weeks on the sidelines. If the injury is as serious as it looks that would tab Rodgers out for the Saints, Lions, Bears, Ravens, Steelers, Bucs, and Browns. Green Bay does have their bye week after the Saints game during week eight.

Once again, Rodgers has been impressive for the Packers atop the NFC North going into Sunday’s game on the road. He’d thrown 13 touchdowns to only three interceptions in 2017 and was tied with Carson Wentz for the league lead in passing touchdowns.
Hundley had attempted only one pass in 2017 prior to replacing Rodgers and is 3 for 11 in his third season out of UCLA. If Rodgers is out for several weeks the Packers have second-year quarterback Joe Callahan on their practice squad. Callahan beat out Taysom Hill for the Packers third quarterback role this preseason.
However, the Packers would likely want a veteran to work behind Hundley as a precaution. Colin Kaepernick is the most polarizing option, though Christian Ponder has experience playing in the NFC North with Chicago.
Ryan Nassib, Robert Griffin III, Thad Lewis, Matt McGloin, Matt Barkley, and Zach Mettenberger are arguably the best options available in free agency.

Potentially not having Rodgers for a prolonged stretch could mean the end of the Packers season with Minnesota and Detroit one game behind entering Sunday’s game. Philadelphia currently leads the NFC with a league-high five wins through six weeks.
