Panthers LB Luke Kuechly’s football career could be in jeopardy
With another concussion on Thursday night, Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly could be in serious danger if he keeps playing football…
Football is a violent, dangerous, and oftentimes very scary game. For Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, it’s starting to get a bit terrifying.
Kuechly suffered what would be his third known concussion in the past three seasons. Last year, Kuechly played in just six games before going down for the season with a concussion. The season prior, he played in just 10 games.
In fact, Kuechly hasn’t played a full season of football since his third year in the league, back in 2014.
With Kuechly’s concussion on Thursday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles, his football career as a player could very well be in jeopardy.

The hit put on Kuechly wasn’t a vicious head-to-head hit or anything. Nor was it a case of Kuechly leading with his head on a tackle. This was a fairly routine play, one where Kuechly was blocked around the shoulder area, and he hit the ground pretty hard.
Head injuries have really become the black cloud hanging over the National Football League. The players know the risk, and many of them play on despite those risks. Some others, like Chris Borland of the 49ers, decided the risk wasn’t worth it.
If this is the last of Kuechly on the field, it’s sobering to think of just how quickly things can take a turn in the NFL with the health risks involved. They say once you get a concussion, you’re more likely to get another. That’s really been reflected in the amount of games Kuechly has played over the past three years.
