NFL gives Justin Timberlake second chance with Super Bowl halftime show
Over a decade after his last Super Bowl performance the NFL is giving the pop star another shot
Super Bowl 51 will feature former NSync star Justin Timberlake as the headliner for the halftime show in Minneapolis, according to Us Weekly.
Timberlake’s reported deal with the NFL comes more than a decade after his infamous performance with Janet Jackson in 2004. The boyband star ripped a piece of Jackson’s clothing off at the end of their performance, revealing the singer’s breast on national television before the cameras were able to pull away.
The Federal Communications Commission implemented a five-second television delay as part of the fallout, allowing the signal to be temporarily cut.

Timberlake reportedly agreeing to perform the halftime show comes days after rapper Jay-Z declined the opportunity to perform as the headliner. His wife, Beyonce, has performed at two of the last four Super Bowl halftime shows as either the headliner or special guest.
The performance is expected to coalesce with the 10-time Grammy winner’s new solo album.
Past Super Bowl halftime shows have featured surprise performances, but none have been reported as of yet.
Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and Coldplay have recently been featured in the halftime show. Year after year the shows are deemed the best ever, placing pressure on Timberlake to redeem himself, perhaps with an NSync reunion or an appearance from long-time collaborator Brittany Spears?
Or maybe, Jackson returns to the stage after their last fiasco.
