Fantasy Football: Carson Wentz unmined waiver wire gold
If you need a quarterback in fantasy football, Carson Wentz is your guy
Two weeks into the fantasy football season injuries and inconsistent play has plagued owners across the NFL landscape. First round picks David Johnson and Ezekiel Elliott face major questions when it comes to their playing time, whether it be due to injury or a pending suspension.
Quarterback play has been slightly inconsistent this year, especially from players drafted towards the back end of leagues. Andy Dalton, Eli Manning, and Kirk Cousins are the biggest culprits of shoddy play with limited touchdowns and excessive turnovers.
Not having Jameis Winston or Jay Cutler due to Hurricane Irma was a slight hiccup to start many owners year, and the nullification of their late bye week could lead to trouble down the road.
If fantasy football owners need to pick up a quarterback they can feel comfortable starting, Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz is the guy.

Owned in just 53.3% of ESPN fantasy football leagues, Wentz is third in scoring through the first two weeks. Last week’s loss to Kansas City provided a significant fantasy performance from Wentz with two touchdowns and another 300 yards passing.
Next week he faces a horrific New York Giants team at home, followed by the Chargers, Cardinals, Panthers, Redskins, and 49ers. Several of those matchups heavily favor the Eagles, who added Alshon Jeffrey and Torrey Smith in free agency.
Despite the loss of Jordan Matthews Wentz continues to connect with his new favorite receiver, tight end Zach Ertz. The two have connected 13 times for 190 yards in two games, and the Giants are vulnerable to the tight end position defensively.
If your quarterback isn’t pulling his own weight in fantasy, Wentz should be your go-to guy on the waiver wire.
