New Orleans Saints vs. Minnesota Vikings: 5 Things To Look For
2. The Vikings Talented Front Seven
It may be the most underrated front seven in the entire NFL.
Three members of the Vikings starting front seven made the Pro Bowl this past season and they also possessed two other defenders that could have been Pro Bowlers last season.
The combination of defensive ends Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter totaled 20.5 sacks, 68 tackles, and four fumble recoveries. Griffen was a Pro Bowler in 2016 while Hunter, who never even started a game last season, was tied for third in the league in sacks with 12.5.
Nose tackle Linval Joseph was also a Pro Bowler and was tied for the team lead in forced fumbles with three.
If linebackers Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks are not the best one-two punch at linebacker in the NFL, they are no worse than top five. The two of them have speed, athleticism, playmaking ability, and are the straws that stirs the drink for the Vikings on defense.
The success of the Vikings defense starts up front with their front seven and it is without a doubt one of the best groupings in today’s game.
