Laremy Tunsil looks bad in Miami Dolphins dress rehearsal
Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil didn’t put on his best performance in the team’s dress rehearsal against the Eagles…
The Miami Dolphins put up a bunch of points against the Philadelphia Eagles in their third preseason game of the 2017 season, but left tackle Laremy Tunsil didn’t exactly play his best game ever.
Tunsil, a first round pick in 2016, is expected to be the team’s franchise left tackle after playing both guard and tackle as a rookie. The Dolphins even traded Branden Albert this offseason, knowing that they had Tunsil waiting in the wings to take over permanently.
There is no perfect player in the NFL, but this type of play by Tunsil has got to be inexcusable:
Before you call the Hot Take Police on me, this was merely the worst play of a bad game by Tunsil. He was the lowest graded offensive player for the Dolphins according to Pro Football Focus, receiving negative marks for both his pass protection and run blocking.
Jay Cutler, of all people, knows a thing or two about bad offensive line play. In order for the Dolphins’ offense to have success, they need a big second year jump from Tunsil, who played well as a rookie.

If this type of play becomes a regular thing, Ryan Tannehill won’t be the only injured quarterback in Miami.
Cutler has dealt with poor pass protection before, but this preseason game against a very talented Philadelphia front is about as bad as it gets. The Dolphins allowed a total of seven pressures last night, and this hit on Cutler is something that may happen from time to time, but hopefully not with regularity.
Despite some issues in pass protection, the Dolphins’ offense — Cutler and the passing game in specific — were able to move the ball pretty effectively. Cutler’s 72-yard pass to DeVante Parker was a thing of beauty, so hopefully what we saw from the line in this game was the exception this season, not the rule.
