Watching Akrum Wadley vs. Michigan is a perfect testament to his abilities as an all-around back.

You want to see inside running from a smaller back? It’s there.

You want to see pass catching ability both out of the backfield and lined up as a receiver?

Got it.

Wadley is obviously very elusive in the open field and has displayed home run speed throughout his Iowa career, so the next steps for him as an NFL prospect are to show that even at his size, he can be an ‘every-down’ back.

That’s what’ll make him the big bucks at the next level.

No one wants to be jumping the gun here, but Wadley is not too dissimilar from LeSean McCoy of the Buffalo Bills. He’s got excellent vision and is very elusive in the open field. McCoy coming out of Pitt is sort of where I would place Wadley at this point. Obviously you’re not going to get LeSean McCoy on day one of Wadley’s career, but anything Wadley does at Iowa this season is icing on the cake as far as I’m concerned.

He put on a show last season for the Hawkeyes as their featured back, and should be even more effective this season with James Butler coming over from Nevada to give the Hawkeyes two NFL caliber backs.
