The Iowa Hawkeyes an Wyoming Cowboys are set for an abnormally interesting week one college game in Iowa City, one that is typically a nice ‘warmup’ game for the Hawkeyes.

Instead of a cupcake coming to Kinnick, the Hawkeyes will be treated to potentially the best quarterback prospect in the country, Josh Allen. He leads the top prospects to watch on both sides of the field in this September 2nd matchup…

Are you buying the hype for Josh Allen yet?

In my opinion, the jury is still out but the ability is definitely there for this kid. He certainly has the NFL body type, arm strength, and athleticism to be a franchise quarterback. Last season, he completed 56 percent of his passes with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

Those aren’t terrible numbers for a sophomore quarterback, and more than anything at this point, scouts are looking at this guy’s traits. He’s playing at Wyoming, so there are going to be dropped passes. There are going to be bad routes from receivers.

What we’re looking at with Allen is whether or not he has the footwork and ability to play quickly in a pro-style offense. This game against Iowa should be a perfect early-season test of his ability.

With all eyes on Allen in this game, it’s going to be important for him to get off to a hot start, even in a very difficult environment like this.
