Jay Cutler shows off his arm against Philadelphia Eagles
Miami Dolphins quarterback Jay Cutler showed off his arm with a big time throw against the Philadelphia Eagles. A sign of things to come?
Jay Cutler is still getting used to the swing of things with the Miami Dolphins, but he’s already showing his arm is in midseason form.
Cutler started Miami’s dress rehearsal in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and got off to a very hot start before he was strip-sacked by Eagles pass rusher Vinny Curry.
Dolphins fans could get used to seeing this type of connection from Cutler to wide receiver DeVante Parker:
First and foremost, you have to love the protection on this play. The Dolphins had some serious issues with their offensive line last season before making some midseason cuts and ultimately major changes.

Branden Albert was let go this offseason in favor of Julius Thomas, and that move turned out to be a great one for the Dolphins, as Albert retired and isn’t even going to be on Jacksonville’s opening day roster.
The protection gives Cutler time, which is something he’s not gotten used to in his NFL career, and he’s able to fire a perfect strike out to Parker, who makes a great catch against tight coverage.
Parker, who caught 56 balls a season ago, could be one of the biggest benefactors of Jay Cutler being around. It’s not that Ryan Tannehill was a slouch, but perhaps Cutler will develop the chemistry with Parker the Dolphins had hoped Tannehill would.
Parker is in tight man-to-man coverage against Eagles newly acquired cornerback Ronald Darby, who isn’t in bad position, but the pass play is beautifully executed by Cutler (ball placement) and Parker (high point, in-air adjustment).
Then, Parker finishes the play with some really nice yards after the catch.
Hopefully for Dolphins fans, this is a sign of things to come.
