The Jacksonville Jaguars will be getting a look at Chad Henne as their starting quarterback in a preseason week three matchup vs. the Panthers…

The starting quarterback position for the Jacksonville Jaguars is no longer Blake Bortles’ job by default. Chad Henne will reportedly start for the Jags who take on the Carolina Panthers in their third preseason game.

Well, let the games begin.

As bad as Bortles has been in the last couple of years, the Jaguars are making a necessary move as the AFC South is fairly wide open and they are legitimately a quarterback away from contending out of that division.

The Jaguars have made the necessary moves on the defensive side of the ball, and they have enough pieces offensively to be effective. They just need someone that can accurately get the ball to receivers.

As much promise as Bortles once showed, he’s regressed since he was a garbage time, fantasy hero two seasons ago with over 30 touchdowns.

Henne is one of the highest paid backups in the league, but his career numbers are pretty unimpressive, to say the least.

More from NFL Mocks

He’s completed 59.3 percent of his passes in his NFL career (Dolphins, Jaguars) with 12,931 yards, 58 touchdowns, and 63 interceptions. Those are not great numbers, but the Jaguars are in a desperate situation.

One would have to question why this is a team that hasn’t yet signed Colin Kaepernick, but that would be a dumb question I guess because the answer is the same for all 32 NFL teams, regardless of how desperate their situations at the position are.

What should we expect from Henne in the Jaguars’ third preseason game? Well, if Bortles is getting ‘benched’ then it stands to reason Henne has been more accurate in practices. Hopefully Henne can reignite the fire in Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns.

This move doesn’t necessarily mean Blake Bortles won’t be the opening day starter in Jacksonville, but typically, week three of the preseason is a dress rehearsal for week one.

Right now, it doesn’t look good.
