Giants: Latest on Odell Beckham Jr. & Brandon Marshall Injuries
The Giants were hit hard in the receiver department, as their two top receivers left Monday’s preseason tilt against the Browns due to injury.
Big Blue Nation, hold your breath. Star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. left Monday night’s preseason matchup with the Cleveland Browns due to an ankle injury. The LSU product endured a hard hit to his lower body, forcing him to the Giants locker room early in the first quarter.
Before exiting the contest, Beckham Jr. hauled in three balls for 37 yards, averaging 12.3 yards per catch.
Fortunately, it appears that he has avoided catastrophe, as his status was updated recently. The franchise cornerstone suffered what is believed to be a sprained ankle and x-rays came back clean.
Beckham has an extensive injury history, so his situation should be monitored carefully and hopefully, he won’t miss time during the regular season.
If that wasn’t scary enough, Brandon Marshall went down with an injury of his own. He took a shot from rookie safety Jabrill Peppers that knocked what would’ve been a completion down the sideline out of the veteran’s hands.
However, x-rays on his injured shoulder have not been released as of now. While Beckham appears to have avoided anything serious, the same cannot yet be said for his counterpart. Should either of the two weapons miss time, Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram likely be the primary beneficiaries.
Another wideout, Tavarres King, also left the game due to injury. He was thrown to the ground and his lower leg, likely his ankle, did not land cleanly. Fortunately, he reached the sideline under his own power, although visibly hobbled.

The litany of injuries that the Giants dealt with tonight is just another example of why some people do not think that starters should be playing in preseason games. Even if Beckham Jr. and Marshall become healthy before Week 1, it’s highly unlikely they’ll play again before the regular season. Don’t be surprised if other teams exercise caution with their star players moving forward.
