Seattle Seahawks continue to take care of their own players
Seahawks management has a terrific track record of keeping their own in-house
Seahawks offensive lineman Justin Britt is reportedly close to agreeing to a three-year contract extension with Seattle. A consistent starter on the Seahawks turnstile offensive line Britt is a bright light in the Seahawks quest for another Super Bowl run.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network says the pending deal between the former Mizzou Tigers star could reach to more than $9 million per season.
Britt’s new deal would place him within the top five in average annual value among centers, tied with Falcon Alex Mack for third.
Britt has been extremely versatile for the Seahawks, who’ve rotated through offensive linemen since their last Super Bowl run. A second-round pick in 2014 Britt has played tackle, guard, and center for Seattle, all while missing only one regular season game. A knee injury forced him out of the 2015 NFC Championship game against Green Bay, but largely he’s been a healthy commodity for quarterback Russell Wilson.

This latest contract is a continuous trend exhibited by the Seahawks organization to keep their homegrown players in town. Russell Wilson, Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Bobby Wagner, and Doug Baldwin are the latest examples of cornerstone players set financially going forward.
Seattle now hopes to see growth from their young offensive linemen Ethan Pocic and Germain Ifedi, each of whom was drafted in the first two rounds in the last two NFL Drafts.
All of Seattle’s success can be attributed to how head coach Pete Carroll, general manager John Schneider and owner Paul Allen have drafted incredibly well and kept their players happy.
