Did DeMarcus Ware turn down a big money offer from the Los Angeles Rams? According to his former teammate, that’s exactly what he did…

In the NFL, money talks, but apparently it wasn’t quite loud enough to keep DeMarcus Ware out of retirement.

After a Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos, Ware called it quits this offseason, and rightfully so. He’d finally won a title and after the 2015 season, he had nothing else to prove to anyone.

Still playing at a very high level in the Broncos’ championship run, Ware finished out his contract with Denver and had to make a very tough decision back in March/April.

According to one of his former teammates with the Denver Broncos, Tyler Polumbus, it was the Los Angeles Rams who made Ware an offer that he ultimately refused…

The Rams brought in Wade Phillips from the Broncos this offseason after his contract as defensive coordinator expired. The fit with Phillips would have been obvious, given those two worked together both in Denver and Dallas, but Ware was simply ready to be done putting his body through the physical toll.

Who knows? Maybe he will get the itch to come back at some point, but the Rams couldn’t talk him into coming out to Los Angeles for a season to be part of what is already a very fearsome defensive front.

That means it’s also probably not very likely that the Denver Broncos would be able to coax Ware out of retirement to come and play on a ‘cheap’ contract with both Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett looking at missing at least the first game or two of the regular season.

One way or another, Ware will remain in shape and keep his options open, but turning down $9 million from any NFL team seems to be a good indicator that he’s pleased with the decision he’s made.
