Lucky Whitehead the latest in embarrassing Cowboys saga
The Dallas Cowboys are going through an incredibly embarrassing offseason stretch of poor decision-making by their players. Lucky Whitehead is the latest…
The streak of Dallas Cowboys players running into trouble with the law has exceeded any reasonable explanation. Wide receiver/return specialist Lucky Whitehead is the latest in the saga, and the Cowboys wasted no time letting him go:
It’s been a rough couple of weeks for Whitehead, who also recently had his dog stolen, and later returned.
The writing was on the wall a bit as far as Whitehead’s roster spot, as the Cowboys spent a draft pick on receiver/returner Ryan Switzer. Though Switzer wasn’t as good at returning kicks in college as he was at returning punts, it seemed there was room for only one of these two guys on the 53-man roster.
Whitehead’s off-field incident is only the tip of the iceberg for the Cowboys. The blotter is loading up with significant contributors on this team, including running back Ezekiel Elliott, who could be in for a very lengthy suspension to start the season.
The Cowboys reportedly worked out running backs like Ronnie Hillman and Denard Robinson to presumably prepare for the blow of losing Elliott.

Of course, Dallas has decent depth on paper with Darren McFadden and Alfred Morris behind Elliott already, but certainly the potential loss of Elliott does not bode well for their playoff hopes.
Over the course of the past 20 years, the Cowboys actually rank pretty low on the NFL’s arrest list, but this offseason has been a completely different story. For whatever reason, there is a domino effect happening of players making poor decisions.
With league punishment yet to be handed down, this won’t be the last of the Cowboys’ off-field antics we hear about…
