NFL: Buffalo Bills DT Adolphus Washington arrested
An arrest coming across the Buffalo Bills news section during the offseason is never a good way to start the summer
Buffalo Bills news is light going into the NFL’s most dreary portion of the offseason between the NFL Draft and training camp. Monday afternoon, however, news broke regarding a potentially crucial piece of the Bills defense going forward.
Defensive tackle Adolphus Washington was arrested in Ohio on a firearms charge, this according to Bob Strickley of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Washington, a third-round pick last year from Ohio State, started 11 games for Buffalo as a rookie and is due for a breakout campaign should he start all 16 games.
The 22-year-old defensive tackle allegedly reached for his firearm during a confrontation with police in Sharonville, Ohio Sunday night.
“reached for and displayed a gun while sitting inside his vehicle; just feet away from officers. The suspect did not inform officers beforehand.”
In the official police report filed in Sharonville, officers allege Washington “reached for and displayed a gun while sitting inside his vehicle; just feet away from officers. The suspect did not inform officers beforehand.”
Police released Washington Sunday evening after the arrest at a local waterpark.
As noted in Strickley’s original report, Sunday’s incident was not Washington’s first confrontation with law enforcement.

While at Ohio State, Washington was arrested for soliciting a prostitute through an online advertisement set-up by police in 2015. Washington pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor after paying an undercover officer $100 for sex.
Ohio State suspended the starter for the Fiesta Bowl, in which the Buckeyes beat Notre Dame handily 44-28.
Washington could face a suspension from the NFL for violating the league personal conduct policy. Last year former Packers tight end Andrew Quarless was suspended two games after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm in public.
The league is also due to address suspended linebacker Rolando McClain for a firearm charge stemming from May.
