New York Giants – 2012

One of the reasons the Giants spent so heavily in 2016 on free agents was due in large part to cover up a lot of the underwhelming drafts GM Jerry Reese had strung together. None more so than his 2012 run. Perhaps he earned excuses for the team winning the Super Bowl the year before, but the fact is it was unable to make the playoffs again for another four seasons because of mismanaged drafts like this one, and per usual it starts at the top.

Running back David Wilson was their 1st round choice. Seemed logical at the time. The team liked to run the ball and needed young blood. Unfortunately the kid was undone by fumbling issues and then a serious neck injury. Second rounder Rueben Randle was a serviceable wide receiver for a few years but never lived up to the standards the team set. Beyond them the rest of the class was little more than special teams fodder who didn’t last long on the roster.
