New Orleans Saints – 2014

The Patriots weren’t the only team that ended up getting shortchanged in the 2014 draft. New Orleans also falls into that category. It almost wasn’t like that. Wide receiver Brandon Cooks had 1,000 yards receiving in 2016 and looked like he could be a major part of their offense for years to come. Instead they made the surprising decision to trade him, ironically, to the Patriots. With him off the table, the rest of the draft class looks far, far worse.

The obsession of the organization with long cornerbacks reached its apex in this draft when they grabbed 6’3″ Nebraska standout Stanley Jean-Baptiste.  A man who played all of four games with the team. That was further hampered by all of their Day 3 picks contributing absolutely nothing to the overall cause other than taking up roster spots. It was the worst showing of an otherwise respectable career for GM Mickey Loomis.
