Ravens cornerback Tavon Young suffers torn ACL, out indefinitely
Young was projected to be a starter for the Ravens entering his second season
Ravens cornerback Tavon Young is due to miss his entire sophomore season after reportedly tearing his ACL in practice.
The 2016 second round draft pick out of Temple appeared to bump into a teammate during practice when he suffered the injury.
Luckily for the Ravens, general manager Ozzie Newsome added veteran Brandon Carr through free agency and used his first round pick on Alabama corner Marlon Humphrey.
Young started 11 games for the Ravens as a rookie and recorded two interceptions and eight pass deflections. The Maryland native recorded seven interceptions and 21 pass deflections in his four years with the Temple Owls.
Pro Football Focus ranked Young the 26th overall cornerback in the NFL last season, heavily citing his coverage ability down the field.
With Carr, Humphrey, and the returning Jimmy Smith the Ravens aren’t desperate to add a starting caliber cornerback. Another piece could be added to the depth chart to supplement late-round pick Maurice Canady and undrafted free agents Kyle Arrington, Carlos Davis, and Jaylen Hill.

Darrelle Revis is likely out of the Ravens price range, while a healthy Sam Shields or Brandon Flowers could be worth a workout with the club. Other veterans on the market include Leodis McKelvin, Tramaine Brock, and the suspended Justin Gilbert.
Ravens organized team activities continue through this week prior to mandatory camp.
