The future Hall of Famer clears a major hurdle to potentially sign with a new NFL team

Free agent cornerback Darrelle Revis is not expected to face any discipline by the NFL after an incident in Pittsburgh back in February. The 31-year-old was facing felony assault charges after allegedly knocked out two men in his hometown.

A friend of the veteran cornerback testified he knocked out the men, who were allegedly following Revis, which spurred an altercation.

Revis was originally charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault and one felony count of both robbery and conspiracy, and a misdemeanor for making a terroristic threat.

Now that Revis is clear of any charges off the field and the league has stated he will not face discipline, teams can sign the cornerback with no fear of him missing games due to a suspension.

While no longer the lone inhabitant of “Revis Island,” the cornerback still brings value as a veteran with a young team.

Should Revis sign with a team now that his legal history is just that, expect him to be a secondary option at cornerback. Some have speculated as to whether a move to safety would benefit the 31-year-old, who has lost a step when facing today’s speedy receivers.

Look for Philadelphia, San Francisco, or Pittsburgh to potentially look into the veteran cornerback now that his legal issues are resolved.
