Dallas Cowboys: Is the secondary fixed?

The Dallas secondary was gutted this offseason. Things will look quite different this season with corners Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne along with safeties Barry Church and JJ Wilcox moving on to other teams.

The team drafted four defensive backs this year with the two highest selections being Colorado corner Chidobe Awuzie and Michigan corner Jourdan Lewis. Free safety Xavier Woods was taken in the fifth round but the team is stocked at that position in starter Byron Jones. Veteran corner Orlando Scandrick will be a vital piece to the young and mostly unproven secondary but even his presence along with Jones still leaves plenty of question marks on the last line of defense.

To provide a short-term answer to the question above, the answer is no. Dallas is capable of making a deep postseason run, but even that is possible with decent production from what was a reliable group at times in 2016.
