Cowboys secondary fixed? Key NFC East offseason questions
New York Giants: Will the Giants run game show significant improvement?
The Giants coaching staff sure hopes so. You can say the same for quarterback Eli Manning also.
The Giants did a good job of placing more weapons around Manning with the free agency acquisition of wide receiver Brandon Marshall and the first round selection of talented tight end Evan Engram. The signing of Marshall may not have been necessarily NEEDED but it does make things a little more complicated for opposing defenses.
Where the Giants need the most refinement is in the run game, which ranked 29th last season. Veteran Rashad Jennings was the team’s leading rusher with just a meager 593 yards and only three touchdowns. Backup rusher Paul Perkins added 456 yards but failed to score in 14 games played. The team decided to move on from Jennings and now Perkins is the probable starter. The team would also love for Shane Vereen to stay healthy and contribute considerably. Keep an eye on fourth round pick Wayne Gallman out of Clemson. As talented as the Giants at key positions, the fate of the run game can determine how far the Giants will go this season.
