The Denver Broncos know that their 2017 draft class holds a lot of promise. Hopes are high it could be the one that pushes them towards another Super Bowl.

That after all is their stated goal. Of course figuring out the quarterback position is paramount to that success (or failure). Trevor Siemian remains the starter but he now has serious competition in Paxton Lynch and Chad Kelly. Meanwhile the team has taken steps towards help that entire position out by adding better protection and more weaponry. It led to the inevitable question. Which rookie will have the biggest impact on the fortunes of this team.

Jeff Legwold of ESPN Denver was tasked with determining the answer to that question. His choice was bold, and more than a little surprising.

"“First-round pick Garett Bolles is expected to start at left tackle, and if all goes as planned, defensive end DeMarcus Walker will be in the pass-rushing rotation. But if you’re talking potential impact, Henderson could be the team’s No. 3 receiver and top kickoff returner. He’s a powerful player with the ball. His game should translate quickly to the NFL.”"

The key to remember with somebody like Henderson is “after the catch.” He is lightning with the ball in his hands. The entire thing at Louisiana Tech was getting the ball to him in space and letting his speed, agility and vision do the rest. This means Henderson will not only be a factor on offense for the Broncos, but also a likely threat on special teams as a return man.

This enhances the idea that he’ll be a great impact player in 2017 than Bolles even though he’s the future left tackle and 1st round pick. It will ultimately come down to how creative the new Denver coaching staff can get. If they try to play him in a traditional role, it won’t work. They need to use Henderson similar to how the Chiefs used Tyreek Hill. Get him moving and in space, then deliver the football and watch.
