Cleveland may not have made the smartest picks, but they made the right decisions passing on overrated quarterbacks in the NFL Draft

Hours before they were officially on the clock in the NFL Draft the Cleveland Browns were reportedly considering North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky number one overall.

Head coach Hue Jackson apparently got through to owner Jimmy Haslam, who appeared to be the one pushing for a quarterback early. Cleveland went with Myles Garrett out of Texas A&M, adding a pass rusher to a defense that had the second-lowest sack total in the NFL.

With the 12th overall pick, Cleveland acquired from Philadelphia for passing on quarterback Carson Wentz the opportunity to draft Deshaun Watson presented itself. Instead, Cleveland traded the pick to Houston in exchange for two first round picks.

Despite finishing out the draft with hybrid defender Jabrill Peppers and tight end David Njoku the Browns made the best move of the night by not taking a quarterback.

Cleveland obviously saw something in Cody Kessler last year to draft him in the third round, and have a Super Bowl champion with Brock Osweiler in the wing.

Next years’ NFL Draft will project to have more generational quarterbacks, and unless Kessler or Osweiler takes a step forward the Browns can take a quarterback next year.

This year they are building a TEAM, and not playing Wack-A-Mole with quarterbacks like they have for the past two decades. You can question the Peppers or Njoku picks, but now the Browns have filled holes and can use their future assets to draft even more stars to return to the playoffs.
