Oakland Raiders fans should be excited as Beast Mode returns home

NFL nation’s dreams have come to fruition, as retired running back Marshawn Lynch is expected to play for the Oakland Raiders next season.

Lynch and the Raiders agreed to a two-year contract, which will be signed pending a trade with Seattle. This trade will become official following a physical, which Lynch is expected to pass.

Injuries to his hamstring and groin in 2015 limited Lynch to seven games and three touchdowns. A native of Oakland, Lynch’s nine-year NFL career split between Buffalo and Seattle, where he won his only Super Bowl.

Multiple media outlets are reporting the Seahawks and Raiders will swap late-round draft picks in 2018 in exchange for the veteran, who turned 31-years-old four days ago.

Lynch quietly announced his retirement during Super Bowl 50 with a cryptic Instagram post, and constantly insisted his playing days were over.

Anyone that knows Lynch knows how unpredictable he can be, and whether or not Lynch plays out the extent of his contract is to be determined.

Lynch joins a Raiders backfield filled with youth after Latavius Murray left in free agency to play in Minnesota. Murray’s departure left Oakland with Taiwan Jones, DeAndre Washington, and Jalen Richard. Oakland’s young core had 94 combined career games, while Lynch has 127 on his own.
