According to most rumors it’s clear enough that the Bears like Deshaun Watson. It’s not hard to understand why. GM Ryan Pace has said he rates quarterbacks highly for their experience, leadership and ability to elevate their program to greater success. Watson fits that bill far better than any other prospect at his position. The problem is his talent level just doesn’t condone the Bears using a top five or even a top 10 pick on him.
So they play a bit of gamble. They move down to acquire an extra pick from Carolina and then package that pick along with their extra 4th round to jump back up in a deal with Baltimore for #16. There they successfully swipe their coveted QB. Remember the Redskins are in a contract squabble with Kirk Cousins, so it’s possible he’s gone after 2017. That makes them a serious threat, hence the necessity of jumping ahead of them at #16.
. QB. Clemson. Deshaun Watson . 16. player. 57
