NFL Free Agency: Jack Doyle Returning to Indianapolis
NFL Free Agency is off to a slow start, but the Colts made the first move by re-signing one of their own, Jack Doyle
While not the biggest name on the free agent market Jack Doyle emerged as one of Andrew Luck’s favorite weapons last year with Indianapolis.
As the first day of legal tampering got underway the Colts appear to have brought back the young tight end.
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network first broke the news that Doyle will be signing a three-year contract to return to the Colts.
The official terms of Doyle’s reported deal come out to a base salary of $19 million with $2 million worth of incentives over the three years.
The 26-year-old Doyle had a career-year with the Colts after Coby Fleener left for New Orleans in free agency. Starting in 14 games the Western Kentucky product caught five touchdowns with 584 receiving yards.

Doyle’s 584 receiving yards were the second-most among Colts players last year to T.Y. Hilton’s nearly 1,500.
What this deal means for Dwayne Allen, who started the year as the top tight end, is yet to be seen. Allen, who’s the same age as Doyle, had six touchdowns and is owed nearly $6 million this year.
It would not be a far cry to say Indianapolis keeps both Allen and Doyle, but knowing Allen has a substantial contract with a pay raise coming could mean he’s moved prior to the NFL Draft next month.
