Up:  Christian McCaffrey (RB, Stanford)

Things didn’t start well for Christian McCaffrey when he put up just 10 reps in the bench press. However, he rebounded in a big way. Teams got a chance to see what an athlete he was during the 40-yard dash (4.48) and three-cone drill (6.57). His quickness and ability change direction are what this new NFL prioritizes. He’s a solid runner but what stood out most in drills was how natural he looked as a pass catcher. That will only add to his overall value.

Down:  Dalvin Cook (RB, Florida State)

For a guy who was viewed as one of the top athletes at running back going into the combine, Dalvin Cook delivered a disappointing day. That actually might be an understatement. His 4.49 in the 40-yard dash was mildly disappointing but it was his abysmal 7.27 in the three-cone drill that stunned a lot of people. His quickness and change-of-direction ability were far below even modest expectations. Throw in his off-the-field concerns and his 1st round hopes took another hit.
