Seattle Seahawks Shockingly Release Christine Michael
With a healthy Thomas Rawls, the Seahawks had a big roster decision to make with Christine Michael
Seattle had a logjam at running back with Thomas Rawls returning from a leg injury and rookie C.J. Prosise emerging. With rookie Alex Collins also in the running back room, Seattle had a difficult decision to make.
To the surprise of many, the Seahawks released Christine Michael Tuesday afternoon after receiving the medical clearance for Thomas Rawls. The decision was said to be purely a business decision, and was not influenced by any off the field incidents.
Michael was drafted in the second round by Seattle in 2013 out of Texas A&M. After sitting behind Marshawn Lynch and being traded to the Cowboys (only to return) Michael was the Seahawks starter with Thomas Rawls out.

In nine games this season, Michael had 469 rushing yards with seven total touchdowns. He dealt with a hamstring injury, and received limited snaps over the past two games he’s played.
Prosise, who the Seahawks drafted out of Notre Dame, has emerged as a key to Seattle’s offense as a pass-catching running back.
He has 96 rushing yards on just 26 attempts, but more importantly has 15 catches for 203 yards through five games.
Teams that could place a claim in for Michael include the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, and the Indianapolis Colts. Each have a hole at running back, and could use a proven starter down the stretch heading towards the playoffs.
