At the beginning of his career with the Houston Texans, Arian Foster was on the road to the Hall of Fame. Contributing three consecutive seasons with at least 1,200 yards and double-digit touchdowns, Foster was on top of the running back world.

Now at the age of 30, Foster realizes his body can not take the beating of another NFL game.

In a statement posted on “Uninterrupted,” Foster said he is “walking away with peace” from the game of football.

After playing just four games due to injury, second-year back out of Boise State Jay Ajayi had two consecutive games with 200 rushing yards. Knowing his role as a starter was gone, Foster game to the conclusion many have anticipated for years.

Multiple injuries cut his career incredibly short, and essentially benched him in his prime. Through his entire football career, Foster has dealt with major injuries to his groin, shoulder, ankle, meniscus, hamstring, heart, achillies, and calf. The ruptured achillies suffered last season after returning from groin surgery was the final straw.

Foster went to four Pro Bowls and earned First Team All-Pro honors in 2010 after leading the NFL in rushing yards and touchdowns.

Twice Foster led the league in touchdowns, while the 2010 season was the lone year he was ahead in rushing yards.
