5th Round

57. The Bears have attempted to solve their nickel corner position a number of times already. Bryce Callahan looked like the answer but he continues to show that his body is not up to the pounding NFL games bring. Then they claimed K’Waun Williams off waivers from Cleveland but his ankle required surgery. Slot corners are frowned upon for not meeting the same prototypical standards of boundary corners, but their jobs are just as important. Teams that have good ones tend to be successful.
Florida has become a school rich in defensive backs lately, having trotted out a number of 1st rounders. Quincy Wilson won’t go that high due to size and speed concerns, but the young man has shown he’s uniquely suited to play the nickel position. In 2015 he delivered two interceptions for the Gators and figures to gain added experience on the outside opposite Jalen Tabor. For a team as starved as the Bears for quality corners, there is no shame in continuing to add bodies at the position.
. CB . Florida. Quincy Wilson . 6. player
