As a result of Saturday’s shocking trade, the Philadelphia Eagles expect to start rookie quarterback Carson Wentz in week one against the Cleveland Browns

With Sam Bradford on his way to the Minnesota Vikings, the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly comfortable with second overall pick Carson Wentz being their starting quarterback.

This would leapfrog Wentz from the #3 spot on the depth chart over Chase Daniel for the starting job.

Philadelphia traded up from the 13th overall pick to the 8th with Miami, followed by a blockbuster move with the Cleveland Browns to snag the second overall pick.

More from NFL Mocks

Carson Wentz won multiple National Championships with the North Dakota State Bison during his college days. He’s not played since the first game of the preseason after fracturing his ribs.

When the Eagles last had Wentz undergo a CAT scan, one rib was one hundred percent healthy, while the second was still on the mend.

Should Wentz’s second rib not be ready to take a beating against the Cleveland Browns in week one, Chase Daniel will get the start.

Philadelphia will most likely protect Carson Wentz by handing the ball off to running backs Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, and Kenjon Barner.
