Eagles to Induct Jeremiah Trotter, Merrill Reese Into Hall of Fame
Legendary linebacker and long-time play-by-play man will forever reside in the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame
Two sounds are synonymous with Philadelphia Eagles football: the thud of a jarring hit, and the voice of Merrill Reese. This season, two of those sounds producers will be inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.
Linebacker and fan favorite Jeremiah Trotter and radio play-by-play voice Merrill Reese will be bestowed this season. The ceremony is currently scheduled to take place when the Eagles host the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football November 28.
Jeremiah Trotter was drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft. At 6’1, 262 lbs, he was a force to be reckon with in the middle of the football field.
Trotter played eight years in Philadelphia, and quickly became a fan favorite for his tenacious style of play. He was named to four Pro Bowls during his 11 NFL seasons, and was also an All-Pro.
“The Ax Man” finished his career in Philadelphia with the eighth most tackles in franchise history, and the most games played by a middle linebacker.
Merrill Reese is behind the microphone of every great moment in Philadelphia Eagles history. The longest-tenured voice in the NFL, Reese has been the voice Eagles fans have been listening to for 40 years.
“When you think about some of the greatest moments in Eagles history, you can hear Merrill’s voice, living and dying with every play, just like we all do,” said Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. “What makes him so special, and so engrained in the fabric of our franchise, is how dedicated he is to the team, the fans and his job. Merrill is a legend, and he is the absolute best at what he does.”
