Melvin Gordon (San Diego Chargers)

It was hardly what one would call a thrilling debut for Melvin Gordon in 2015. After such a spectacular finish at Wisconsin, it was reasonable that San Diego Chargers fans would expect him to become a productive part of their offense right away. Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that in the NFL. He was in trouble from the start. Not only did he have to deal with injuries to himself, but the Chargers offensive line was absolutely decimated as well. Gordon is a talented young player but even he has limits when it comes to health.

This year should be different. He’s a little wiser and more prepared this time. Word out of camp is he’s recovered from his ailments and has regained his ability to cut and better still the offensive line bolstered by returning bodies. Not to mention the arrival of veteran center Matt Slauson. Throw in Ken Whisenhunt as offensive coordinator and it’s shaping up to be a far better year for Gordon, especially with such limited competition to worry about in the AFC.
