Tony Romo Injured In Cowboys Third Preseason Game
By Erik Lambert
If there was one thing the Dallas Cowboys needed to avoid it was Tony Romo getting hurt again. Seems it’s a fate they just can’t escape.
At the beginning of the third preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, considered the most important in terms of preparation, Cowboys fans everywhere felt the air go out of them as Romo went down yet again. In a play where he was trying to scramble, a Seahawks defender dragged hit him from behind, resulting in an unknown injury to his back.
It’s worth noting that Romo has dealt with back problems before. He underwent surgery in 2013 that caused him to miss the rest of the season. One must hope this isn’t a recurrence of the same issue brought on by the hit. Regardless it’s yet another reminder that the 36-year old isn’t the same spry, durable player he used to be.
The good news it may be minor.
However, that could just be the team running him through some tests to judge pain level. Nobody doubts Tony Romo is a tough quarterback who will do everything in his power to prevent his missing the season again, knowing the implication both for him and the Cowboys if that happens. If it’s not that severe, there is definitely no way he goes back into the game or appears the rest of the preseason. If it is serious though, then Dallas is about to find out whether they made a worthy enough investment in Dak Prescott.
