Jimmy Garoppolo

Many eyes are firmly set on the former 2nd round pick as he prepares to start the first four games of 2016 for the New England Patriots. Garoppolo has steadily improved over the course of the preseason and leads all quarterbacks in passing yards. With Tom Brady out for the first month, he may never get another opportunity like this to show what he’s capable of as a starter in the NFL. If Matt Cassel can do it, then there is no reason he can’t.

One can imagine the Patriots are anxious to regain those draft picks they lost a year ago thanks to Deflategate. Their best shot is by selling their young quarterback when his stock is high. Brady likely won’t be retiring anytime soon and they’ve already set up a solution for the backup job after drafting Jacoby Brissett in the 3rd round back in April. This has the look of an elaborate, well-thought out plan. All they need is for Garoppolo to play well.
