It looks like the Dallas Cowboys may have finally found a capable backup quarterback in rookie Dak Prescott of Mississippi State…
Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is building off of a phenomenal start in last week’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams, scoring four touchdowns in the Cowboys’ blowout win over the Dolphins.
It’s only week two of his first preseason, but Prescott is looking like a steal for this Cowboys team, which should hardly come as a surprise. The former SEC offensive MVP has consistently improved as a passer after establishing himself as one of the best running quarterbacks in college.
Now, he’s providing the Dallas Cowboys with a critical piece of depth behind Tony Romo, who is no stranger to the injury report.
Another ridiculous night from @15_DakP.

This is a really intriguing but also important development for the Cowboys. Prescott had some pre-draft issues that teams might have been concerned about, though the on-field ability was there. There has also always been concern about his ability to consistently be accurate with the football, and we’re definitely seeing that so far in the preseason.
He has more total touchdowns (six) than he does incomplete passes (five).
Dallas desperately needed someone who could come in and start for Tony Romo if needed, and not only just be a placeholder, but someone who could actually excel and keep this team in a playoff hunt. Perhaps it’s too early for that kind of talk with Prescott, but the results really speak for themselves at this point.
He’s doing a phenomenal job, and everyone is beginning to take notice.
