Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III hasn’t been perfect, but he’s making some vintage plays and giving Browns fans some optimism…

Robert Griffin III is smiling from ear to ear again, and for all the right reasons.

After getting jettisoned from Washington where the end of his career was — to put it nicely — ugly, Griffin signed a pretty below average ‘prove it’ contract with the Browns, hoping something might work out.

With Hue Jackson in the fold in Cleveland, things might start to turn back around for the artist formerly known as RG3, and we’re seeing some fruits of their work together so far this preseason.

The Browns played on Thursday night, and RG3 completed a number of screen passes but then threw some bombs downfield and looked like the RG3 of old.

This isn’t anything earth shattering, but it’s a really positive sign for the Browns and their fans. Not to mention, Terrelle Pryor has a few big catches already this preseason, showing off that mismatch he can be down the field with his size and ridiculous speed.

If nothing else, the Browns are going to be fun to watch develop over the course of a 16 game season. How will RG3 do over a long period of time with the kind of weapons he now has at his disposal? I don’t want to get too carried away, but I can say with confidence this is the best supporting cast of position players I think we’ve ever seen around RG3, at least with the inclusion of wide receiver Josh Gordon eventually.

Optimism is already brimming from Cleveland thanks to basketball and now baseball season, but the Browns are adding something to that.

And it’s all thanks to RG3’s potential resurgence.
