Josh Harvey-Clemons, S, Louisville: 2017 NFL Draft Scouting Report
For such a promising recruit, the first half of Josh Harvey-Clemons’ collegiate career was a major disappointment. Harvey-Clemons, a five-star safety coming out of high school, began at Georgia. That’s where his troubles began. First came “The Miracle at Jordan-Hare.” Nearing the end of the Bulldogs’ crucial 2013 match-up at Auburn, Josh tipped what would have been the game-sealing interception right into the hands of Tiger receiver Ricardo Lewis., resulting in a crushing defeat for Georgia. Then, following a string of off-the-field incidents, he was dismissed from the program. He ended up at Louisville, where he has capitalized on his potential. Last season, Harvey-Clemons made 88 stops (more than his two-year combined total at Georgia), hauled in three interceptions and forced a fumble. Needless to say, Josh Harvey-Clemons has blossomed as a Cardinal and is destined for NFL stardom.

Strengths
You’ll be hard pressed to find a safety with better size than JHC. He has a ridiculous frame which allows him to roam the box like a linebacker and be physical with big receivers. He also knows how to use his size to intimidate the offense. He hits hard, covers a lot of ground and makes plays in the backfield.
His frame also makes him versatile. He projects to be a safety/linebacker hybrid at the next level, a position that continues to increase in popularity as the NFL becomes more pass-heavy. Wherever he plays on the field, Harvey-Clemons is a sure tackler.
He’s also resilient. Remember how he was “responsible” for Georgia’s loss to Auburn in 2013? Check out the above video to see how he got revenge (Hint: Harvey-Clemons played the best game of his career.
Weaknesses
Josh Harvey-Clemons’ main weakness is his off-the-field actions. Has he matured since he left Georgia? NFL front offices hope so. While his crimes aren’t too serious (marijuana usage), he is still a repeat offender. He’s under a microscope so he must keep a clean slate from here on out.

Outlook
Harvey-Clemons projects as one of the top players in the 2017 draft class. If he had declared for the 2016 draft, he still could have been a mid-round selection. If the Louisville star keeps moving down the right track, he’ll become a household name in no time.
With the need for versatile safeties at a premium, expect a team to take Harvey-Clemons early on if he can replicate or improve on his 2015 campaign. A first-round choice is likely.
