Adele Turns Down NFL’s Offer to Perform Super Bowl Halftime Show
Superstar Adele says her and the Super Bowl aren’t a good fit
It’s not often someone tells the National Football League no, especially when it involves anything related to the Super Bowl.
Superstar singer Adele will be on the other side of history, as she announced she has declined the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl 51 halftime show.
The singer announced during her show in Los Angeles she declined the offer, saying “that show is not about music.”

When Adele confirmed she would not be performing at the Super Bowl in Houston, she said “I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”
Previous acts such as Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and Lenny Kravitz have each showed off their dancing shoes in one of the biggest shows of the year.
Adele is an interesting name for the NFL to offer for a show that has become known for its electricity and it’s evolution into a dance party.
Her songs are mostly slower and fit for a more elegant stage such as the Grammys or Oscars. Although, her incredibly powerful voice would have made for one hell of a show.
Adele’s last album “25” spent 10 weeks as the number one song on the Billboard Top 200 last year. Her song “Hello” has been listened to on YouTube more than 1.6 billion times.
Taylor Swift would be the obvious candidate to perform at Super Bowl 51. Her style would be very-much aligned with the type of performers the NFL has brought in recently. The Weeknd, Rhianna, Kanye West, and Drake have been rumored in the past.
Should the league wish to dial back the clock, AC/DC and Guns & Roses are each coming off highly successful world tours. Other bands coming off world tours include Florida Georgia Line and Twenty-One Pilots.
