5 Things To Look For Before Hall-of-Fame Game
Factor #2: Four-way dance at wide receiver
The Packers will have their dynamic duo back at full force with Jordy Nelson returning from a torn ACL to pair with slot receiver Randall Cobb. Cobb was the leading receiver last season in catches, yards, and touchdowns but it was clear that the team needed someone else to step up. Former Packers receiver James Jones made contributions but he was shown the door by not being re-signed.
The team will need someone out of Davante Adams, Jeff Janis, Ty Montgomery, and Jared Abbrederis to distance themselves from the pack and be that third receiver for Rodgers and company.
Adams caught 50 balls in 2015 but he also dropped an alarming amount during the season that has many questioning his ability. Janis only reeled in two receptions last season while Abbrederis and Montgomery combined for 23 catches. Rodgers has been deadly in the past when he had a trifecta of receivers on the field. All four have athletic and big play ability but none has been able to grab the baton when the opportunity was given.
The preseason contest is a showcase to make a name early in the preseason and gain some momentum.
