Stephen Tulloch Close to Signing with the Philadelphia Eagles
With a shallow depth chart at linebacker, the Philadelphia Eagles reached out to a former member of defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s Lions team.
After being released just prior to training camp, veteran linebacker Stephen Tulloch has long been rumored to be an option for the Philadelphia Eagles.
On Saturday, word began to trickle out that Tulloch and the Eagles were in “heavy negotiations” and that a deal could be done soon.
As the Eagles transition back into a 4-3 defense under Jim Schwartz, many pieces are being shuffled across the Eagles front seven. The first will be Mychal Kendricks moving from middle linebacker to the weakside. Standout sophomore out of Texas Jordan Hicks is expected to be healthy after injuring his pectoral muscle mid-season, and be the starting middle linebacker.

Former Buffalo Bill Nigel Bradham was signed to be the starting strong-side linebacker, but legal issues could potentially hinder that possibility. Bradham is at training camp after turning himself in after an alleged assault in Florida.
After that group of starters, the Eagles only had Najee Goode as a reliable back-up option. The rest are rookies who are clearly unproven and not ready to make such a big leap into the NFL.
Tulloch played under defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz for six season as a member of the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions.
Philadelphia has an estimated six million dollars worth of cap space after making some major moves over the offseason. They brought in Brandon Brooks, Bradham, Leodis McKelvin, Rodney McLeod, Rueben Randle, Ron Brooks, Chris Givens, Stefen Wisniewski, and Chase Daniel as free agents.
Vice President of Football Operations Howie Roseman also extended the contracts of Sam Bradford, Zach Ertz, Brent Celek, Lane Johnson, Darren Sproles, Vinny Curry, Fletcher Cox, and Malcolm Jenkins.
