Odell Beckham and Josh Norman Already Trading Shots
By Erik Lambert
New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham has made it clear his feeling on cornerback Josh Norman on more than one occasion.
It began in December of 2015 when the two got in a very memorable battle during a visit by the Carolina Panthers to MetLife stadium. They were talking constant trash to each other and sometimes that hot headed mouth flapping spilled over into out-and-out late hits and other physical shots. It got so bad that the NFL actually changed their rule book to make it required for a player to be ejected from a game if they receive two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

So naturally the media world lost its mind when news hit that Norman, granted his release by the Panthers decided to sign with the Washington Redskins. That mean the two would be going head to head twice in one season. This of course led to some UFC-level hyping up, the anticipation building for just what they might do for an encore. Like any good fight, comments from the players are required and Beckham played the role of antagonist to perfection during an interview with GQ magazine.
"“If I wasn’t playing him twice a year, maybe people wouldn’t bring it up as much,” Beckham said in GQ’s August issue. “But now it’ll be a lot more media attention for him, attention that I don’t really look for, attention I don’t really need. The reason that he’s become so relevant is because of me.”"
Boy, if that’s not a blatant attempt to rile Norman up then nothing is. True to form in this opera on the gridiron, the Redskins corner seemed to take on a new attitude regarding Beckham: indifference. At this point he made it sound like he’s tired of hearing about the wide receiver.
"“I really ain’t got (no thoughts on Beckham’s comments) to be honest with you. I’m all out of thoughts, you guys got ’em all … I don’t too much care about him, I had what I had to say yesterday when I was asked about it at CC’s celebrity basketball game,” he said Friday. “I think that’s pretty much where I stand on everything……I don’t really care to be honest. I really don’t. I mean, the guy said what he said, it is what it is. It really is. I don’t take it, no use for it.”"
Certainly an air of annoyance surrounding his words. He may say that’s how he feels at this point, but chances are this Odell Beckham and Josh Norman feud is not over yet. With an increase in the number of meetings coupled with the same division crown being up for grabs, there is no doubt that this war has only just begun. NFL rules or not, this is the kind of bad blood that doesn’t go away so easily.
