Dallas Cowboys: Ezekiel Elliott Has Proof of Setup
By Erik Lambert
The NFL takes domestic violence more seriously than it ever has, which is why the accusations leveled against Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys were no joke.
Expectations are high for the #4 overall pick of the 2016 draft, so it can be considered the worst sort of timing imaginable that photographs would surface from an ex-girlfriend showing bruises on her body. She claimed the abuse happened in a parked vehicle while they were still dating when he was at Ohio State.
If true, it would potentially ruin his career before it ever got started. Given the state of players like Ray Rice and Greg Hardy, teams are taking less and less chances on players with a background for being aggressive in any way towards women. However, as the news continues to unfold it seems assumptions must be put on hold. According to multiple sources, there is a belief that Elliott is in fact the victim of a setup that this ex-girlfriend threatened promised would happen if they broke up.
Sadly this happens often with high-profile athletes and celebrities. People they thought they knew turn out to be little more than leeches interested less in a loving relationship and more in being carried to financial wealth and success without having to do any work. It’s simply further proof that players should be extremely careful with who they trust once the success and money start to flow in.
It will take time for authorities to sort out the truth of this entire situation. If Ezekiel Elliott is proven innocent, his example should be delivered to all future players that it’s very smart to always save anything that might be considered evidence of a crime at a future date. It may just safe their careers, if not their lives.

For the time being no charges are being pressed either way. Elliott is free to continue preparing for Dallas Cowboys training camp in hopes of becoming their starter at running back as planned.
