Jones signed a five-year, $33,000,000 contract with the Indianapolis Colts prior to the 2014 season. In that deal, Jones received $16,000,000 guaranteed, and a $5,500,000 signing bonus.
In his nine games with the Colts in 2014, Jones had 1.5 sacks, 19 tackles, and a forced fumble.
The loss of Jones opens up an opportunity for fourth round pick Hassan Ridgeway, who is listed as the backup defensive tackle. The Colts selected Ridgeway out of Texas earlier this year incase the veteran Jones could not play the entire season. He was also expected to help a defensive line that allowed more than 120 rushing yards per game last season without Jones.
Originally drafted in the third round by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2010 out of Syracuse, Arthur Jones won a Super Bowl ring with the Ravens during their 2012 championship run. He is the brother of Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Chandler Jones, who was acquired over the offseason from the New England Patriots.
