2015 Season Recap

Before a miserable turn of events, LSU got off to a blazing hot 7-0 start.

Riding the stellar play of running back and then-Heisman favorite Leonard Fournette, the Tigers marched into their annual must-see showdown with Alabama undefeated and unfazed by their hated rivals, who had beaten them in their previous four meetings.

Well, needless to say that’s where it all went bad in Tiger Town.

LSU was downed 30-16 and Fournette was held to 31 rushing yards after averaging 193 during the first seven weeks. He’d never enter the Heisman discussion again until his sophomore season concluded.

From there, the team dropped two consecutive games to Arkansas and Ole Miss, firmly putting Les Miles’ job security in doubt.

The Tigers eventually snapped back to reality with wins over Texas A&M and AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl foe Texas Tech.

By seasons’ end, the damage was already done and it appeared that LSU would be looking for a new head coach. To the surprise of many, Miles’ contract wasn’t bought out, regardless of the crushing pressure that he’ll remain under at least until the big-time wins start becoming the norm again in Baton Rouge.

As a whole, a program like LSU shouldn’t expect anything less than conference titles and major bowl game appearances, making last year nothing short of a failure. Although, it can be said that such a disappointing season might’ve actually set the team up to reach greater heights in 2016.

For Miles’ sake, the Tigers better hope that’s the case.
