Carolina Panthers: TE Greg Olsen will lead the team in catches & touchdown receptions

Olsen has led the Panthers in receptions three seasons in a row and saw a career-high in receiving yards last season with 1,104. Two seasons ago, Olsen tallied a career-high in receptions with 84, even with the presence of #1 receiver Kelvin Benjamin. Benjamin returns this season after missing 2015 with a torn ACL in training camp. With that absence, QB Cam Newton leaned on his veteran tight end, who answered the call time after time.

Even with a healthy Benjamin and a top-notch running game, a tight end is a QB’s best friend in many occasions and Olsen has proven himself to be the best tight end in the NFC South and quite possibly the entire NFC. The return of Benjamin will do wonders for the passing game in Carolina and a safe bet can be placed that Benjamin will lead the team in receiving yards but Olsen is a safety valve and two seasons ago, Olsen was second on the team in targets and TD receptions. Look for Newton to call on his Pro Bowl tight end often in 2016.
