Arian Foster Becoming Target For Two AFC Powerhouses
By Erik Lambert
One of the best free agents left available on the NFL market is running back Arian Foster, and it finally seems like teams are ready to make a move for the four-time Pro Bowler.
Having spent his career in Houston, a time that resulted in just two playoff wins and no championships, it would make perfect sense that Foster, who will be 30 in August, would want to seek out a team that gives him the best possible chance to get a ring before he has to retire.
Several teams have been mentioned in passing, but recently two notables have emerged as potential landing spots.

Few franchises love kicking the tires on veteran running backs more than the New England Patriots. Bill Belichick got a taste for it years ago when he was defensive coordinator for the New York Giants and saw an aging Otis Anderson carry them to a Super Bowl title. Then again in 2004 when the Patriots signed Corey Dillon who was critical to their third championship that season. Last year the team was ineffective on the ground, managing just 1,404 yards rushing and LeGarrette Blount leading the way with 703. Foster would give them an extra, cheap boost.
The Denver Broncos make even more sense. Foster made his name in Houston under Gary Kubiak, the same man now running the show for the Broncos. Getting back into that offense might just extend his career a few extra seasons. Much will depend on whether he’s willing to share carries though since Denver retained C.J. Anderson and also drafted Devontae Booker in the fourth round. So he would not be looked at as a feature guy but a depth and rotational option.
If he’s willing to accept that role, then he shouldn’t have a problem finding a new home. Whether it’s with one of those two teams, it will come down to price.
