The Honey Badger isn’t happy about the amount of honey in his pot. During a twitter rant Tuesday afternoon regarding the safety in New Orleans, Tyrann Mathieu expressed frustration about how much he makes on his original rookie deal and the fact he doesn’t have a long-term contract.

While Mathieu’s quickly deleted most of his tweets, we were able to get screenshots of them from his Twitter page.

Mathieu, who grew up in the New Orleans area, has spoken out regarding the recent murder of former Saint Will Smith in the city. The Cardinals safety reportedly knew the man who allegedly shot Smith and his wife Saturday night after Smith allegedly was involved with a hit and run. Mathieu has said he wants to help the youth of the area get on the right path in life.

A third round pick out of LSU, Tyrann Mathieu had a well documented history of drug abuse and off the field concerns. He’s appeared to have turned his life around for the better and he wishes to help the youth of New Orleans do the same.

Smith said if he had the money that comes with a long-term contract, he would get people out of the area.

As a third round pick, Mathieu’s contract is worth$3,052,500, which gives him an average salary of $763,125/year. Over $817,00 of his contract is fully guaranteed.

In 2015, Pro Football Focus ranked Mathieu their number one cornerback, a position he doesn’t even identify as. He’s currently the 84th highest paid safety out of 175 safety contracts.

Mathieu tore his ACL at the end of last year and his status for the start of next year is not yet known.

The Cardinals signed offensive lineman Evan Mathis, safety Tyvon Branch, and running back Chris Johnson in free agency for short-term deals. They also traded for Patriots pass-rusher Chandler Jones, who will be due a big pay day at the end of this season.
