Akiem Hicks should ably fill one of the defensive end spots next to Eddie Goldman on the Bears front, but that still leaves the other spot wide open with few capable bodies to fill it. Though they’ve expressed confidence in Ego Ferguson, the reality is if Chicago wants to take their defense to the next level, they’ll need a player who can be disruptive. Somebody who takes the heat off the linebackers.

Jonathan Bullard has the skill set to meet those parameters. The Florida defensive lineman has the size and length for 3-4 end and fits the mentality that Ryan Pace and John Fox look for: a blue collar worker with the kind of power that allows him to bully in the running game. This overshadows his deceptive quickness that could help him become a far better pass rusher if he learns to use his hands and lower body strength in concert with his solid motor.
.
