Los Angeles Rams Cleaning House Prior to Moving

With the move from St. Louis to Los Angeles now official, the Rams are doing what every moving person does. They go through their house and get rid of all their “stuff” that they realized they don’t need or they forgot they had. This is what happened today when the Los Angeles Rams released three players from their roster to clear a large amount of cap space.

Tight End Jared Cook, defensive end Chris Long, and linebacker James Laurinatis were released by the team, clearing about $24 million dollars in cap.

With a shiny new home in Los Angeles being built, the Rams can now make splashes in free agency that they were restricted to doing prior to todays cuts.

A move like this allows them to go after a young quarterback who could hit the market (Kirk Cousins, Brock Osweiler) or add some pass rushers into the mix. Osweiler would be the most likely option considering the Broncos will most likely use their franchise tag on a defensive player and the future of Peyton Manning is still not known yet to anyone in the organization.

The team has some key free agents of their own to deal with first, including Trumaine Johnson, Nick Fairley and Janoris Jenkins. Locking those three guys up is now priority number one for the Los Angeles Rams.

With just under $60 million in cap space available to them, the Rams are poised to move into their new home with shiny new appliances.

Not bad. Not bad at all.
